Is this finally going to work? At last! with only a day to spare. .. Despite this obstinately empty page, I have been trying hard to produce some photo essays with my 2 Year 9 classes. This has turned out to be much harder, with many more obstacles than I imagined. I hope to have some to show everyone on Friday (though not necessarily good ones!). So far, the only one which I have managed to show in class was on Powerpoint, not moviemaker!
I'm embarrassed that it has taken me so long to post anything; but I have been interested to read what others have been doing.
My original idea was to try the photo essay for Year 9 (famous individuals of the 20s & 30s) and a wikipage for Y12 Ancient History. As above, this ran into nearly every problem imaginable:
students not reading/following instructions on copying, saving etc;
not being able to import music
students losing theirs...
not creating one each (saved), so that if one was away, it was still accessible (they worked in pairs ~ seemd a good idea at the time)
when we did manage to get some up on the screen, not having speakers so the song could be heard
I've just spent the 1st 4 weeks of Term 3 on this task with very ordinary results!! (Relieved to hear Richard say he made lots of the same mistakes the 1st time too). AObviously, important not to be totally discouraged & give up! So, next time, I will:
create one first myself!
show them how to copy on screen (= model!)
maybe not have them work in pairs? (but then this would take so much longer to show in class)
have all the necessary gear ~ e.g. speakers
So, I didn't even start the wiki page. Not clear in my own mind the value of this; I guess I should ask my students if they would like it.
